Our studio currently fluctuates between 3 to 4 people at any give time; including Registered Architects, Architectural Interns and Administrative personnel, who share a dedication to excellence in design, research, technology and project management.

James Hettinger, OAA, is the founding principal of jh•architecture. He brings over twenty-five years of design experience in innovative and cost effective solutions. Jim is a Licensed member of Ontario Association of Architects and a contributing member of the Hamilton/Burlington Society of Architects.

Jim received his Master of Architecture from Dalhousie University, has a diploma in Interior Design from the University of Utah and an undergraduate degree in Environmental Design from Dalhousie University. Prior to establishing jh•architecture, Jim worked as the lead architect in Ontario for the Minneapolis based Opus Group. Jim brings the understanding of a developer’s mindset to each project for aesthetics and economy.

In addition to his professional activities, Jim has been a part-time Teaching Assistant, at the Sheridan College Interior Design Program - Fall/Winter Term 2004, in addition to an ongoing Thesis Mentor, at Ryerson University - Architectural Science. Jim is an advocate for continued education, and takes great pride in mentoring those who are starting out in the industry to have a chance at exploring their potential while learning in a hands-on environment.
